How I set goals so that NOT hitting them is UNREASONABLE
My life changed when I heard the following quote:
"Both unsuccessful and successful people have goals."
This quote hit me hard because it's true and helped me realize what truly leads to achieving goals:
Strategy.
Why?
Because strategy compels action and makes the process the goal.
…
An unsuccessful person may only have a vague understanding of the outcome without a defined plan.
While a successful person not only knows the desired outcome but also understands the necessary steps and work involved, thanks to their strategy.
For instance, let's say both the unsuccessful and successful person want to generate $30k/mo by the end of 2024.
The successful person breaks it down into actionable steps:
Increasing monthly recurring revenue gradually. They set a quarterly objective: Generate $10k/mo EO 2024Q1, which means...
Acquiring 4 new $2.5k clients per month, which means...
Scheduling at least 5 calls per week with a 20% close rate, which means...
Sending out 100 DMs per day with a 1% booking rate, which means...
Creating the message, setting up DM automation, tracking results, testing new messages every 3-5 days, doing follow-ups, and so on.
In short, successful people have a clear understanding of the necessary steps to achieve their desired outcome.
This understanding has powerful consequences.
First, it allows them to make the process itself the goal. Achieving goals is no longer a matter of luck but rather a result of deliberate actions.
This gives them greater control and agency over their business because by adjusting their actions, they directly influence the outcomes.
Second, when the necessary actions are well-defined, they can be organized, tracked, reviewed, and improved.
This may involve streamlining, automating, delegating, and other optimization strategies.
As a result, successful people can achieve their goals more efficiently.
In summary
The key to achieving your goals lies in developing a clear strategy that outlines the necessary steps and work required.
By making the process the goal and organizing your actions, you gain control over your outcomes and can streamline your path to success.
Embrace this approach, and you'll find that not hitting your goals will become unreasonable.

Simon
